Housing Cairo awarded DAM Architectural Book Award 2016
This year is a good one for Ruby Press. First our Architecture Reading Aid Ahmedabad was named one of the most beautiful books in Germany by the Stiftung Buchkunst, and now Housing Cairo: The Informal Response, has been selected as one of ten books to receive the Architectural Book Award 2016 by the German Architecture Museum.
A further two of our books, Architecture Reading Aid Ahmedabad and SUDU, were also included on their shortlist. The DAM Architectural Book Award is the only international prize dedicated to architecture books. This year 88 architectural book publishers participated, with 214 publications submitted overall.
Housing Cairo, edited by Marc Angélil and Charlotte Malterre-Barthes in collaboration with Something Fantastic, was developed within the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Urban Design at ETH Zurich. After Building Brazil! and Cidade de Deus!, both edited by Marc Angélil and Rainer Hehl, this is the third MAS publication from Ruby Press to receive the DAM award – this is also the fourth time we have received this award for one of our books overall.
The award ceremony will take place today, October 19th, in the library of the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt. All awarded books will be presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, which opens today.
